COUNTY CARD MIXED BETTERBALL STABLEFORD

Torquay Golf Club know how to give a welcome as 73 men and 23 women gathered to play the third and final DevonGolf County Card event of this season. The 4BBB Stableford, any combination, attracted players from 23 clubs across the county. Handicaps ranged from 4 to 28, which shows that County Card events are for all our Devon golfers.

Thanks to Torquay Golf Club's Laura Colman, Nigel Garrett and Frank Pym who acted as starters for the day and the clubhouse staff who welcomed everyone with bacon baps and coffee and fed them afterwards with an excellent dish of chicken in a mushroom sauce, veggies and potatoes. It seems every golfer enjoyed the playing the course, not minding the light showers and revelling playing in less heat which had dissipated overnight.

The first scores in were 39 and 40 points, a promising start. 41 and 43 points followed soon after and, for a long time, the leaderboard looked as though 43 points would do the trick. But it's not over until it's over and almost at the end of the field Torquay's Sue Baxter (PH10) and Christopher Rowe (PH16) finished their round with 47 points to clinch 1st place.
