GRAHAM RUTH TROPHY CONTINUES TO GO FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH AT CHURSTON GC

Graham Ruth Trophy

128 players made up 64 teams to compete in the Churston Adult/Junior open and Devon Golf Graham Ruth Trophy at a sunny but very chilly Churston GC on Bank Holiday Monday. Players travelled from across Devon, Somerset and South Wales to compete in this popular annual event.

The American Greensomes format works particularly well in competitions where there is a range of age and experience on show. Our youngest competitor was 6yrs old and our oldest 87 yrs old. There is no other sport that can do this.

The competition was fierce throughout the day, with the last competitors completing the round just before 7pm, there was a long and anxious wait for the competitors who had posted good scores earlier in the day.

The Devon Golf Graham Ruth Trophy is restricted to players with handicaps of 28.4 and 36.4 and below. The Champions for 2025 are Barry Bayley and Ollie Howard from Churston with a score of 47 points just holding on to beat Martin and Tyler Storry, 45pts (who were in the last group of the day) from East Devon GC and Pete and James Knapman 44pts from Churston.

In the Adult/Junior open competition Chris Wills and Oscar Lee from Churston came out on top with a score of 54 pts, beating Barry and Ollie into second and Sally Newman and Lucie Tregana 47pts, from Stover in third.

Thank you to everyone at Churston who presented the course in excellent condition and were on hand to keep the competitors fed and hydrated from 8am till 7pm. Everyone at Churston looks forward to welcoming you back on 4th May 2026.
