WOMEN'S COUNTY MEDALS

Yelverton Golf Club pulled out all the stops for the first DevonGolf women's competition of the year, the Division 1 and 2 County Medals. 27 clubs from across the county represented their club, having qualified from the previous season having returned the lowest aggregate nett of the best 3 scores whilst playing in any qualifying 18 hole stroke play (medal) competition at their Home Club. Division 1 played for the Silver Medal and Division 2 for the Bronze Medal.

The players were seen on their way by starter Peter Holt who was also referee when required. Yelverton ladies Anne Ashley, Teresa Holt, Sandra O'Sullivan, Mair Preston-Jones, Gwen Price, Caroline Theyer and Julia Tindall-Jones, led by Lady Captain Jo Jenkins, provided valuable ball spotting help in the beautiful sunshine. Their support was invaluable and DevonGolf is very appreciative of everyone at Yelverton Golf Club who gave up their day.

The winning score for Division 1 to take the Silver Medal came from Julie Garnett (Churston) posting a nett 66 with prizes down to 5th place. In Division 2 Janet Pollard from Ilfracombe posted a nett 69 to win the Bronze Medal.
