Juniors from across Devon converged at the Warren Golf Club for the climactic showdown of the Henry Truscott Inter-Club Trophy with teams from Saunton, Tiverton, Stover and defending champions Staddon Heights vying for regional supremacy.
In a season where DevonGolf's four regions battled fiercely, the best from each region emerged for the final clash: Saunton (North), Tiverton (East), Stover (South) and Staddon Heights (West). Under Stableford scoring rules, the format demanded consistency across all six-member teams, where the best five scores would count. Although teams could be mixed, only Saunton Golf Club fielded a mixed team with sisters Zia, Zaynah and Zachary Singh and Tommasina Miali playing alongside Archer Johnson and George Fennell.
At the halfway mark, Stover Golf Club commanded the leaderboard with 96 points, closely followed by Tiverton (89), Saunton (83), and Staddon Heights (82). Early standout performances included Braydon Cotton of Stover whose impressive 38 points set a high bar. Only near the end of the field did Saunton's Zaynah Singh rise to the challenge, matching Cotton's score and injecting excitement into the final stretch.
Yet it was Stover's composure under pressure that sealed their victory finishing with an unbeatable 167 points. Saunton settled into second with 153 points, followed by Tiverton with 148 points and defending champions Staddon Heights concluding with 136 points
Club | Points |
