DEVON GOLF

A BIG THANK YOU TO THE DCVLGA

Sunday saw the annual meet up of the Devon under 18 girls and the DCLVGA, this year hosted at Teignmouth Golf Club.

The weather was kind in that it was dry but there certainly was a nip in the air despite the sun shining.

The format was Better Ball Pairs - this year with the under 18 Girls' Elite Squad paired with the Girls' Development Squad to play against the Lady Vets.

This was an excellent opportunity for the Lady Vets to see first-hand the breadth of talent we have across the squads, and for the girls to gain valuable words of wisdom and advice from these experienced women golfers.

The matches were played in great spirit and some fantastic golf was played by both sides. The Girls were victorious with a 6½ to ½ win, but this fixture is never really about the result - it's about bringing the generations together to enjoy the sport they love - and in that sense everyone was a winner!

A well-deserved match meal was enjoyed by all the players after the golf and it was so lovely to see everyone chatting and laughing together in the clubhouse.

A presentation on behalf of the association was made by Joyce Brown, Lady Captain of the DCLVGA, a donation of £350 to fund additional coaching for the Girls' Development Squad.

It was quite fitting that among the girls that played that day, nearly all had benefited from this very kind annual donation.

Susie Carr, Devon Girls' Elite Team Captain, made a speech to thank everyone involved for playing, the catering and greens staff and to thank the ladies for their kind donation.
