THE BOWMAKER TROPHY 2024

Summer had arrived at last at Dainton Park Golf Club for the Bowmaker Trophy 2024. 32 teams, 96 ladies, gathered to play on a course that could not have looked finer. But those in the know realise that Dainton Park has trees and everyone was very grateful to the many ladies who gave up a lot of time to ball spot and/or act as starter. Thanks to Chris Davis, Mary Shepherd, Lesley Singleton, Karen Cole, Julie Warner, Louise Dowell, Ayumi Coulson, Wendy Roberts, Lesley Ball, Janet Pratley, Ann Johnson, Kathy Hill, Tina Scanlon, Pauline Ashton and Sue Elson. That's a lot of ladies who gave up their time and it was much appreciated. My thanks must also go to Lady Captain Julie Warner who helped with every aspect of the day and the smooth-running of the entire competition is testament to their magnificent support. 

Meanwhile, back in the clubhouse, a raffle was held in aid of Rowcroft Hospice and, thanks to the generosity of the players that day, £450 was raised. 

Early scores were in the 60's with the odd one in the 70's. Halfway through the field Teign Valley's Serena Skinner, Jane Summers and Karen Major posted an 81 which looked promising but, just two tee times behind, Stover Golf Club's Alison Cull, Yim Sun Chan and Beverley Harrison came in with 86 points which proved to be the winning score. 

The top prize was £75 for each team member with prizes down to 8th place and the Stover team also win the Bowmaker Trophy.
