The President's Trophy semi-finals were held at Ilfracombe Golf Club on a bright but very breezy day which added an extra challenge for the teams who were fired up and ready to play.
The first match was between Okehampton and Sidmouth. We saw some quality golf from all the ladies but Okehampton proved the stronger team on this occasion with game wins for Amanda Leonard, Penny Deakin and Petra Byatt. Sharon O'Brien won her game for Sidmouth but this was followed by an Okehampton win for Sue Williams to take the overall match.

The second semi-final was between Tiverton and Tavistock 2. This was a very closely fought and exciting match with two games going down the 19th. Tiverton's Jing Li won game 2 followed by a win for Tavistock's Belinda McSherry in game 3. Maureen Postles from Tiverton won her game and Fiona Lovell won game 1 for Tavistock on the 19th. Game 6 was won by Marion Ruffett for Tiverton and game 7 was won by Marion Stenhouse for Tavistock, meaning three games a piece and all eyes were on game 4 which had also gone up the 19th and was eventually won by Ali Menheneott for Tiverton to give them the match win.
Okehampton will now play Tiverton in the President's Trophy final at Torquay Golf Club on 27th September. Ilfracombe's Lady Captain Jean Wills presented semi-finalist trophies to Sidmouth's Team Captain Sheila Faulkner and Tavistock's Lady Captain Marion Stenhouse. Congratulations to both teams for reaching this stage of the competition.

Finals Day for the Still Cup, President's Trophy and Sheelah Creasy Bowl is at Torquay Golf Club on Friday, 27th September. All support will be gladly welcomed.
My thanks to Ilfracombe Golf Club for hosting us - to Matt and his staff for looking after us so well and providing some lovely match meals, to the Office, Pro Shop and the Greens Staff who had presented the course so well. Thanks to the DevonGolf referees Terry Hembrow and Nigel Roy who did sterling work as always. My very special thanks go to Lady Captain Jean who organised everything so well for me from initial planning to the day itself. She acted as the Starter, sending the teams off with plenty of encouragement and then spent hours out on the course feeding back scores to me. My thanks also to the other Ilfracombe ladies who came along to help with ball-spotting which really helped the day run smoothly.
