SENIOR MEN'S STABLEFORD CHAMPIONSHIP 2024

Welcome to the Warren Golf Club - and there's always a warm welcome in spite of the drizzly weather. Suitably attired, the men teed off with the hopes the rain would lift and eventually it did. However, it did take it's toll on some of the scores and it seemed home advantage paid off.

The Veteran's Challenge Cup was for the Stableford Champion, nett. A lovely trophy to win, alongside the £75 first prize voucher. The lead changed hands a few times as the scorecards came in but, much to his surprise, Steven Smith (Warren - PH18) took the main prize and the Pensioner's Plate for the best nett score for the over 65 players. His first ever trophies and the smile says it all.

There was less chopping and changing with the scratch score for the Bert Hudson Trophy and again the home advantage paid off. Tim Aggett won the trophy and a £75 voucher with 38 points, just 1 point ahead of Tim Jones (Warren) and 3 ahead of Jeremy Binch, also from the Warren.

Two 2s were scored by Andrew Sutherland (RND) and Andrew Rich (Stover). Other 2s winners were Mike Jewell (Tiverton), Tim Jones (Warren) Robert Vooght (Stover), Roger Mawson (Dartmouth), Adam Cook (Okehampton) and Andy Clark (Honiton).
