PRESIDENT’S TROPHY QUARTER FINALS 2024
The President’s Trophy Quarter Finals were held at Churston Golf Club on a lovely warm day earlier in August. The good weather heightened the anticipation of a good day and the ladies gathered on the tee ready for some quality golf.
The first quarter final was between Okehampton and Thurlestone. There were game wins for Tricia Swindell and Melanie Adcock of Thurlestone but the Okehampton ladies proved stronger on this occasion with game wins for Amanda Leonard, Penny Deakin, Maggie Caws, Elaine Marwood and Sue Williams who took her game to the 19th.

Match 2 was between Sidmouth and Bigbury and was very close. Sidmouth's Sheila Faulkner, Maria Clapp and Mandy Furniss won the first three games, with Bigbury's Sarah West, Ruth Bickle and Linda Hanbury securing the last three games to make it three a-piece. The match win finally came for Sidmouth with Marie Timms winning her game.
Match 3 was between Exeter and Tiverton. Rebecca O’Callaghan won the first game for Exeter but the rest of the results went Tiverton’s way to give them the match – game wins for Jing Li, Lynne Veen, Ali Menheneott, Maureen Postles and Marion Ruffett.
The last quarter final was between Tavistock 2 and Stover. The first three games were wins to Tavistock 2 for Fiona Lovell, Belinda McSherry and Clair Mundell. The fourth result was a game win for Alison Arnold to try and turn the tide for Stover, but Ruth Myott won her game for Tavistock 2 to take the match win.
Congratulations to the winners who will meet at the semi-finals of the President’s Trophy at Ilfracombe Golf Club on Monday 9th September. Okehampton will play Sidmouth, and Tiverton will play Tavistock 2.
