DEVON GOLF
WOMEN'S DEVON COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP - Day 1
Ladies from across the county gathered at a beautifully presented Teignmouth Golf Club for Day 1 of the Women's DevonGolf County Championship. The top golfers from the DevonGolf squads and clubs set off to play 36 holes. Round 1 saw Gudrun Thorsteinsdottir (aka Nolan) from East Devon shoot a very tidy gross 74 to lead the field from Sophie Page (East Devon) by 3 shots, just 1 ahead of Lauren McGinnis (Churston) with a 78.
Excitement mounted when Frances Harbron (Okehampton) scored a Hole in One witnessed by playing partners Sarah Hoff (Stover) and Karen Friendship (Yelverton). In Round 2 Karen Friendship clearly had picked up a tip or two as she also had a Hole in One on the 11th hole. Lucky Sarah witnessed two Holes in One in one day!
Round 2 saw Gudrun maintain her form to score a 1 under 72 taking her into the semi-final as the no. 1 seed. Lauren McGinnis also improved on her morning's score by 5 shots to be the no. 2 seed for the Women's County Championship. For all scores from Rounds 1 and 2 click here
