MEN'S COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD MEDAL - DAY 1

The DevonGolf Men's Championships began on Friday, 12th May at Teignmouth Golf Club. 62 players representing 19 clubs across the county and the cream of the Devon teams and top club players played 36 holes scratch to win the coveted Gold Medal. The top 16 men after 36 holes qualified for the Men's County Champion the next day, knockout matchplay rounds.

Round 1 saw some excellent scores with James Allum (Tavistock) at the back of the field bringing home the morning's best score of 67. Not far behind with 69 was Daniel Rosevear (Thurlestone) with 69, alongside Rory Hunt (Teignmouth). Home advantage worked for Todd Radford and Tom Papworth, both soring gross 70 Sam Dunn and Chris McGill, both from the Warren scored 71 and Rodin Mackay (Exeter) and Tom Woodhouse (East Devon) were in hot pursuit with 72.

But Round 2 always turns up a few surprises, not least Jack Dart (Churston) who scored a 2 on the par 5 1st hole for 3 under after 1 - not a bad start! But even this fantastic start wasn't enough to take him through to Day 2's Matchplay rounds for the County Championship. Dan Rosevear improved his first round by 3 shots, shooting an incredible 66. Jeremy Binch (Warren) shot 69 and Jay Scott (Tiverton), James Pickard (East Devon) and Jack Dart 70. For all results of Day 1 click here
